Welcome to Evansville! We are a group based on freethought and rational discussion. Feel free to join in the discussion or meet with us at our regularly scheduled meets.

Ladies and Gentlemen: We give you your new web site. You are hereby cordially invited to participate in this wondrous thing we have all created - EVFT. On par with facebook, we have our own private and extremely versatile discussion board with a myriad of subjects for your conversational pleasure; complete with a caveat lector section {The Battlegrounds} for our more cantankerous members. In addition to this, we have a picture gallery and an event calendar outlining the details of all our official meet-ups.

Membership is absolutely free, though we accept, encourage and highly appreciate all donations. Funds will be used for site maintenance and the associated costs of running our group. Our hopes are that we can eventually have the ability to give something back to the community by becoming a full fledged non-profit (as well as non-prophet) organization; serving as a voice of reason in our area as well as a social outlet for local freethinkers.

EVFT is by design meant to be a haven and a meeting place for freethinkers. As such, we do not allow proselytizing. Those with an obvious and deliberate religious agenda will not be allowed to participate in our group. Also, this site is intended for mature audiences (18+). The only exception we currently offer is for those associated with the SSA (Secular Student Alliance).

It is very important to note that we must maintain civility and harmony amongst ourselves. To reiterate, this is not a hate group and we will not support such activity. However, it is often in the nature of freethinking people to question the existence of social norms. There will likely be tasteless humor and satire, and we have no plans to censor unpopular opinion. It should be expected that there will be provocative debates or discussions that are not politically correct. That being said, we draw the line at abusive, threatening or blatantly offensive material and we absolutely will not tolerate harassment.

To remove the negative stigma that atheists, agnostics and many freethinkers have, it is necessary for us all to gather together as one and lead by example to show those with a dissenting view that they have nothing to fear from us. If we can achieve even a small paradigm shift in our society, then our efforts will not be wasted. Again, you are all most welcome. We look forward to getting to know you.
